Singapore’s growing craft beer scene gains another notch to its credibility with the opening of Mikkeller Bar Singapore earlier this month, adding its 20 rotating craft beer taps to the burgeoning scene that recently also saw the official launch of craft beer bar Freehouse early month.

Danish gypsy brewer Mikkeller – headed by owner and brewer Mikkel Bjergsø – has partnered with its local distributor The Drinking Partners, who also owns craft beer bar Druggists, in a joint venture to open the bar here, the second in Southeast Asia after Bangkok, and its fourth in Asia (although Mikkeller Tokyo was forced to close suddenly after a dispute with its local in-country partner).

Mikkeller Bar Singapore will see its taps rotate frequently with different core and seasonal Mikkeller beers, although the likes of Bugis Brown, Prinsep Pilsner and Waterloo Wit are near permanent fixtures brewed (and named) as they are specially for this market.

But craft beer fans are crossing their fingers in hope that, like other Mikkeller Bars around the world, the Singapore outlet will also bring in the rare and lauded beer offerings from the “Friends of Mikkeller”, such as fellow Danish gypsy brewery To Øl, Indiana’s 3 Floyds Brewing, as well as Warpigs, the brewpub opened in collaboration between Mikkeller and 3 Floyds (and which happens to have a female brewer from Singapore in Foo Lan Xin on their brewing team).

Now we’re all hoping for a BrewDog Bar to land on our shores too.

Mikkeller Bar Singapore is located at 120A Prinsep Street.
