International female bartending competition Speed Rack will come to Asia for the first time with the inaugural Singapore edition in March kicking off the competition series for 2017.

First founded in 2011 by bar industry veterans Ivy Mix and Lynette Marrero, Speed Rack was started with a mind to build and promote a community of women mixologists thriving in their professions. The first Speed Rack competition featured top female bartenders in various key cocktail markets in the US, and as a result of their work, Mix and Marrero were named “Most Innovative Women in Food & Drink” in 2015 by Food & Wine and Fortune magazines, and nominated “Mixologists of the Year” for Wine Enthusiast’s 2016 Wine Star Award. The sixth national tour (2016-2017) begins November 2016 and visits eight leading cocktail cities. By 2015 the competition tour expanded to the UK and Canada.

In 2017, Speed Rack will debut in Asia as Speed Rack founders Mix and Marrero come to Singapore to launch the regional edition on Sunday 12 March. In past editions, Speed Rack has attracted the best talent from the industry to participate as judges, incluiding industry legends like Dale DeGroff, Julie Reiner, Audrey Saunders, David Wondrick, Jacob Briars, Charles Joly and Simon Ford, to name a few. Similarly, Speed Rack Asia judging panel will be a mix of top local and global industry experts.
