Part of Lewin Terrace‘s newly launched “Full Moon Wine Party” series that takes place every month on a full moon night, this event on Sunday 24 January 2016 from 6.30 to 11pm will feature natural biodynamic and biological wines from France, Italy and Australia to suit the full moon theme.
Biodynamic wines are wines made using the principles of biodynamic agriculture, where the planting, pruning, harvesting and processing of the grapes are regulated by a special biodynamic calendar originally devised by Maria Thun. Thun divided the calendar into four categories – Root, Fruit, Flower and Leaf days – and believed that wines tasted best on Fruit days, and especially during a full moon. Some wine experts subscribe to the belief that lunar cycles can affect the taste of wine; others believe it is mere spiritual hogwash.
The biodynamic and biological wines are made from 100% organic grapes, grown within an environment free of chemicals and GMOs; and typically harvested during a full moon. Those featured include:
Entry fee is $50++ per person; every guest receives $50 worth of coupons that can be exchanged for wines. Wines are priced from $10++ per glass while canapes go from $5++; both payable via coupons. Additional coupons can be purchased.
