Scotland’s Islay whisky distillery Bowmore has introduced a range of three new single malt whiskies exclusive to travel retail: Black Rock, Gold Reef and White Sands.
All three single malt whiskies from the new travel retail range take inspiration from distinctive natural landmarks on Islay. Black Rock, named after a jagged outcrop visible in Bowmore’s bay, is matured in predominantly Spanish Oloroso sherry casks and exhibits notes of peat smoke, treacle toffee and orange. Matured in first fill Bourbon casks, Gold Reef features vanilla, zesty citrus fruits and sea salt flavours and is named for the reflection of the sun’s rays off the coral seabeds located off the western coasts of Islay. White Sands, a rebranded expression of Bowmore’s original 17 year old, offers treacle toffee, ripe tropical fruit and peat smoke characters and is inspired by the seven mile stretch of coast along Laggan Bay. White Sands is also matured in Bowmore’s legendary No. 1 Vaults, the oldest maturation warehouse in the whole of Scotland.

First introduced at DFS in Singapore’s Changi Airport March this year, the new range entered Thailand and Hong Kong’s travel retail stores in April and will progressively be made available across other markets. According to Morrison Bowmore Distillers global brand ambassador Gordon Dundas, travel retail currently comprises around 25% of Bowmore’s total business.
