William Grant & Sons Global Brand Ambassador Rob Allanson picking up the award on behalf of Grant’s

Whisky brand Grant’s – the very same one that started William Grant of William Grant & Sons‘ ascendancy in the whisky business – was recently awarded the trophy for the Best Blended Scotch Whisky under 21 years at the International Spirits Challenge 2014 for its Grant’s 8 Year Old.

The win was announced at the awards at The Honorable Artillery Company, London on 14 July, and is about the highest honour that can be awarded by the ISC since only one product in the category each year can be named as such. With key notes of fruit, vanilla, oak and spice, Grant’s 8 Year Old is a blended whisky made with around 25 single grain and single malt whiskies aged for at least 8 years, and is the most recent addition to its lineup as the first new Grant’s blend to be released since 2009. The 8YO was developed specifically for Asia based on the number 8, which is considered a lucky number for especially Chinese consumers.

“We are truly honoured to have received this very special award which acknowledges the outstanding quality and taste of Grant’s 8 Year old in the blended Scotch whisky category,” says Shane Hoyne, Grant’s Global Brand Director, William Grant & Sons Ltd. “We pride ourselves on crafting a portfolio of high quality premium blended whiskies that offer something exceptional to the consumer and this award is an acknowledgement of the hard work done by our master blender Brian Kinsman and the whole team to achieve that.”

The Grant’s 8YO also received a gold medal at The Scotch Whisky Masters 2014.
