For whisky buffs who also happen to be fine food aficionados, if there’s only one event you can make during the upcoming World Gourmet Summit 2015 it would be this one – whisky house Macallan is teaming up with fine dining restaurant Bacchanalia and the three Michelin-starred El Celler de Can Roca to present the Macallan Masters of Taste Singapore, a gourmet whisky pairing dinner that will see some of the whisky brand’s most esteemed whiskies on offer.

For one night only on 21 April, brothers Jordi and Josep Roca of El Celler de Can Roca (pictured above with their brother Joan and The Macallan master blender Bob Dalgarno) – voted No.2 by The World’s Best 50 Restaurants in 2014 – will be in town, and will work with Bacchanalia’s talented kitchen team to create an exquisite 8-course menu to pair with some of the finest whiskies.

While we have no idea yet what the talented chefs will be putting on the table, we do know which whiskies you’d get to taste at the event:

  • Sherry Oak 12 Years Old,
  • Fine Oak 15 Years Old,
  • Sherry Oak 18 Years Old,
  • Estate Reserve,
  • Reflexion,
  • No. 6,
  • M Decanter, and
  • A Special Vintage 1998 Cask (flown specially in for this dinner).

“The Macallan team takes pride in pairing its precious single malt with gastronomy. Great food and our fine whisky go hand in hand,” says Geoff Kirk, Managing Director of Edrington, Southeast Asia. “We are incredibly proud of our collaboration with the award-winning Chefs and one of the top restaurants in the world. The Roca Brothers are passionate about great food, spirits and exceptional hospitality.”

“We are thrilled to be bringing the brothers to Singapore for the first time and to set new standards in luxury gourmet in the region,” Kirk added.

Bacchanalia took home the S. Pellegrino New Restaurant of the Year gong at the 2014 World Gourmet Series Awards of Excellence. Its kitchen is headed by culinary expert Executive Head Chef, Ivan Brehm, a prodigy of Heston Blumenthal’s The Fat Duck in England.

“We are absolutely honoured to represent The Macallan once again and to finally come to the wonderful city of Singapore,” said Josep Roca of El Celler de Can Roca. “The collaboration with Bacchanalia and The Macallan will create an experience that takes guests on a journey of gastronomic discovery fusing exceptional food with The Macallan’s finest whiskies. We want to make this one of the most memorable culinary experiences of our guests’ lives.”

The Macallan Masters of Taste Singapore is priced at S$688++ per person and will include a silent auction in aid of Community Chest, the official charity partner of WGS, during which one Macallan aficionado stands a chance to acquire an exclusive bottle of The Macallan Special Vintage Cask autographed by the Roca brothers.
