One of the newest places to open up with an entire array of craft beer on taps is not a dedicated craft beer bar, but a burger joint. In fact, it is THE Burger Joint of the New York Le Parker Meridien fame.

[Burger Joint Singapore is now officially closed.]

Burger Joint Singapore opened earlier this week to some fanfare, bringing the famed burgers and milkshakes of the New York burger establishment – one lauded by TV show host and food provocateur Anthony Bourdain in his travel programme The Layover – to Singapore under franchise owner Nic Heaney.

And while most of Singapore goes batshit cray over the no-frills burgers, craft beer fans may be surprised to learn that Burger Joint Singapore actually boasts a bar with 18 beer taps all dispensing craft beers. In fact, it seems like franchise owner Heaney has hooked up with some of the more cutting edge beer suppliers in town such as Eastern Craft Trading, Applehops and Beerstyle Distribution; on launch day we saw beers the likes Omnipollo from Sweden, Heretic and Stone Brewing from the US, England’s Weird Beard and Pressure Drop, and Shiga Kogen and Hitachino Nest of Japan gracing the taps.

If craft brews are not your thing, the bar at Burger Joint Singapore surprisingly also has one of the more robust American whiskey menus available in this part of town – there are bourbon and rye whiskies from brands such as Eagle Rare, Blanton’s, Willett, Maker’s Mark and Rowan’s Creek available for a most unique American burger experience.

In any case, with the recent openings of Freehouse and Mikkeller Bar Singapore and now the entrance of Burger Joint Singapore means that the Singapore beer scene just saw an incredulous 54 craft beer taps added to it in just one month – a boon for craft beer lovers certainly, but a development that may be a cause for concern for operators.

You can find Burger Joint Singapore at 115 Amoy Street #01-03.
