Beer merchants Beer Importers & Distributors (BID) has expanded its range of Engel beers in Singapore.

While most craft breweries in other parts of the world experiment with more modern brewing styles and a wider spectrum of ingredients, Engel Biermanufaktur – based in the town of Crailsheim in the southern Hohenlohe-Fronconia region of Germany – is one of the few craft breweries that still makes beer in the traditional German fashion in compliance to the Reinheitsgebot beer purity law which dictates that only malt, water and hops be used in the making of beer.

Still the brewery manages to offer a very wide assortment of 20 different craft beers in its home country, relying on local barley – Hohenlohe is well-known as a region for growing malting barley – grown in neighbouring farms.

Previously the Engel Gold was available in the Singapore market; beer importers BID have expanded that range to now include the Engel Kristallweizen, Engel Hefeweizen Hell, Engel Dunkel and Engel Premium Pils. This move was calculated to replace German brand Warsteiner in its portfolio, which it recently lost to another still yet undisclosed distributor.
