DFS Group Refreshes Its Duty-Free Stores At Singapore Cruise Centre

World-leading luxury travel retailer DFS Group has unveiled its expanded and updated duty free stores at Singapore Cruise Centre’s HarbourFront terminal.

If you’re travelling to the neighbouring Riau islands via Singapore Cruise Centre’s HarbourFront ferry terminal, getting a couple of bottles of duty-free liquor has never been easier. DFS Group has earlier this month revealed its new and updated travel retail stores at the ferry terminal, after being awarded Singapore Cruise Centre‘s master contract for duty-free and general merchandise concessions for both its HarbourFront and Tanah Merah terminals back in December last year.

The refreshed DFS stores at the Singapore Cruise Centre HarbourFront’s departure and arrival areas now resemble the ones at Singapore Changi Airport; the expansion means that its wine and liquor sections have also become more extensive. The new DFS Singapore Cruise Centre encompassing some 6,000 square feet currently offers a selection of wines, spirits and tobacco including 75 premium whiskies from over 25 different brands – and including DFS exclusives such as the Suntory Umeshu – is now made available to the almost 7 million travellers arriving and departing from Singapore annually by ferry or cruise ship.

Ferry and cruise passengers can, on their way to or from the neighbouring Indonesian islands of Batam and Bintan, for example, pick up blended and single malt whiskies such as Johnnie Walker, Bruichladdich, Glenfiddich, The Balvenie, Yamazaki, The Macallan, and Chivas Regal; cognacs such as Hennessy and Martell, and even 12 duty-free travel exclusive wines some of which include Inniskillin, Moët and Chandon, Veuve Clicquot and Wolf Blass.

An interesting new space as part of the refresh is the wholly new Whiskey Bar similar to the one in the DFS Wines and Spirits Duplex in Singapore Changi Airport’s Terminal 2, and a new Cocktail Bar – like the one in the DFS Wines and Spirits Duplex at Terminal 3 – where guests can sample from a range of whiskies or indulge in specialty cocktails by DFS’ in-house bartenders.

It’s the first time that the Singapore Cruise Centre has consolidated its duty free concessions across six categories including wines, spirits and tobacco, beauty and confectionary into a single contract. “The opening of the new DFS stores at SCC marks a strong relationship between DFS and SCC,” says Christina Siaw, CEO of Singapore Cruise Centre (SCC).

“Passengers at our terminals are now able to experience an array of retail offerings with more store space, new retail concepts, as well as new brands, which hand in hand work to elevate the overall shopping experience,” she adds.
