Leading luxury travel retailer DFS has unveiled its latest retail store, located at the recently-opened Terminal 4 of Singapore Changi Airport to offer travellers yet another avenue to pick up a bottle or two of their favourite booze before they fly.

The retail experience in Singapore’s Changi Airport is generally considered to among the world’s best – the airport, after all, has been voted World’s Best Airport by air travellers at the 2017 World Airport Awards for the fifth consecutive year with one of the key considerations being shopping – and a large part of it is thanks to the presence of DFS.

In recent years the luxury travel retailer has constantly innovated its stores within the various terminals; when launched in 2015 the DFS Wines and Spirits Duplex at Terminal 3 offered a jaw-dropping 300 different alcohol options for travellers on two different floors, and later similarly revamped its store in Terminal 2 as a duplex offering a similar experience, kicking off a special seven-week whisky festival to celebrate its reopening. And to celebrate the first year anniversary of the store in Terminal 3 DFS even brought Singapore’s vaunted cocktail culture into the airport by bringing in bartenders from award-winning bars from around town for guest shifts.

That latter experience must have been wildly successful for DFS, because for its new store in Terminal 4 – which occupies more than 1,800 square feet – it has added a special area called the “The Cocktail Bar”, a collaborative bar space where travelers are encouraged to engage in the basics of cocktail making and where masterclasses and guest bartending shifts can be held. As a hat tip to the global artisanal, small-batch movement it’s also added “The Craft Collection”, an area showcasing a curated selection of craft and small-batch beers and spirits from around the world. “The Whiskey House” makes a return too; the dedicated spirits tasting bar at both Duplex stores in Terminals 2 and 3 – with complimentary tastings of over 100 different whiskies – have been exceedingly popular with travellers wanting to sample spirits before deciding on their purchase.

DFS at Terminal 4 also boasts an impressive selection of prestige wines, including a special collection from Lafite, Mouton and Latour to name a few. Within the store, a curated selection of wine is presented in enomatic tasting machines for guests to sample before they buy.

Terminal 4 is the first at Changi Airport to offer a “walkthrough” retail concept; unlike its stores in the other terminals where the liquor section is segregated from the cosmetics and perfumes areas, the layout of the new DFS store allows an integrated and more seamless shopping experience.

“We have been eagerly awaiting the opening of Terminal 4 and are excited to officially unveil our newest store here at Changi Airport. At DFS we are always striving to provide our customers with new and innovative retail experiences. By leveraging on current trends in the market we have developed two new concepts which we are thrilled to launch at Terminal 4. Both provide a space for customers to engage with and discover new brands,” says Brooke Supernaw, DFS Group’s Senior Vice President Spirits, Wines and Tobacco.

To celebrate the launch of the store, DFS has collaborated with local award-winning bartender Peter Chua of Crackerjack to create three cocktails that are inspired by Singaporean’s favorite sweet treats. Every Friday and Saturday until the end of December, travelers will be able to enjoy complimentary sampling of the three cocktails at the Terminal 4 Activation Pad. Customers who spend over S$120 on DFS wines & spirits will also receive a local snack plushie coin pouch with purchase.
