Scotch whisky brand The Macallan has introduced its annual limited edition The Macallan Classic Cut expression to the Singapore market.

First launched in fall last year in the United States, the Macallan Classic Cut is a limited-edition, no age statement single malt whisky by the Speyside distiller that’s been specifically aged in European and American oak casks seasoned with Oloroso sherry. Now officially launched in Singapore, it comes mere days after The Macallan released its Quest Collection series to global travel retail.

And while The Macallan doesn’t particularly say that the Classic Cut comes at cask strength, at 58.4% ABV it’s either cask strength or comes pretty close. In fact it comes at a higher ABV than most Macallan expressions – which normally come around 40-46% ABV – making this one rare Macallan indeed.

Macallan aficionados may remember the highly-rated but sadly discontinued Macallan Cask Strength of old; this new Classic Cut borrows that predecessor’s livery, power and sherry focus and presents them in a more modern way.

“With its combination of flavours of caramel, orange zest and nutmeg spice, and a satisfyingly long finish, this truly indulgent single malt whisky is one to savour in your own time,” says Nick Savage, Master Whisky Distiller of The Macallan.

While limited edition, the Classic Cut is slated to be an annual release.

The Macallan Classic Cut is available in Singapore at select whisky retail outlets such as 1855 The Bottle Shop, The Oaks Cellars, LeRouge, and La Casa Cubana at the recommended retail price of S$170.00 before GST.
