What happens when you give a cellar master carte blanche to do anything he wants when it comes to creating a cognac expression? For Rémy Martin’s Baptiste Loiseau it meant the Rémy Martin Carte Blanche A Baptiste Loiseau first released in 2016, specially selected from a single vat that he felt was closest to Rémy Martin’s house style. Loiseau has followed that up with a limited edition Cognac with the Rémy Martin Carte Blanche Merpins Cellar Edition.
Like its predecessor, the Rémy Martin Carte Blanche Merpins Cellar Edition was created to showcase an authentic expression of the maison. Current master blender Loiseau looked through the house’s extensive inventory of blends created by previous cellar masters – the work of André Giraud, Georges Clot and Pierrette Trichet – and finally identified a very promising blend from Rémy Martin‘s iconic Merpins cellars and tracked its evolution over time.
This special edition consists of a blend of eaux-de-vie aged 27 years, delivering spicy notes of cinnamon and clove, mixed with flavours of mirabelle plums, honey and gingerbread. And unlike most Cognacs, this edition is bottled at the percentage proof naturally occurring in the vat to maintain full concentration of flavours; rich and elegant with a persistent finish, this rare cognac is best enjoyed neat.
There are only 9,650 bottles of Rémy Martin Carte Blanche Merpins Cellar Edition available worldwide. For Singapore, this cognac is designated for global travel retail, and is available for purchase at DFS Singapore Changi Airport at a recommended retail price of S$568.
