Plan a year-end wine escapade to Margaret River Gourmet Escape

This year’s Margaret River Gourmet Escape will take place on 16 to 18 November 2018 with an entire expanded lineup of events showcasing gastronomic offerings from across the whole of Western Australia.

Margaret River Gourmet Escape is considered most highly-anticipated food and wine events in the world, taking place in the iconic Margaret River wine region of Western Australia. Every year the event draws top chefs from across the length and breadth of Australia, and indeed the rest of the world, to the sprawling natural beauty of the Western Australian landscape and the top-notch winery restaurants that call it home.

This year, Julien Royer of Odette and Jake Kellie of Burnt Ends – both recently were awarded their Michelin stars, the latter for the first time – will be representing Singapore (last year it was owner-head bartender Vijay Mudaliar of award-winning bar NATIVE and André Chiang, chef-owner of the now-defunct Restaurant André); Royer and Kellie will join the likes of culinary greats such as Guy Grossi, Luke Mangan, Cape Lodge’s Tony Howell, Tetsuda Yakuda, and Aaron Carr at the event that will be headlined by celebrity TV chefs Rick Stein and Nigella Lawson.

Wine enthusiasts can expect Margaret River Gourmet Escape to be rather wine-soaked too; aside from the main gourmet village at Leeuwin Estate where festival goers can try wines from across the region, there will also be satellite events such as wine dinners like the “Four Elements Dinner at Fermoy Estate“, “From the Earth: Oakridge comes to Arimia“, “Amelia Park Spring Harvest Dinner“, and the newly added “Supper with Nigella at Xanadu Wines“.

Margaret River is an excellent nearby wine region to visit for a retreat; it recently celebrated 50 years of winemaking in the region. Those who love their craft beers can also find a number of excellent breweries that have opened up, from pioneers such as Colonial Brewing Co to newer names such as Rocky Ridge Brewing Co and Beerfarm.
