Atlas launches its exclusive, one-of-a-kind collaboration with Champagne maison Piper-Heidsieck – the Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Essentiel Atlas.

Aside from Atlas’ towering reputation for its massive gin collection, you may know the award-winning grand lobby bar for its veritable treasury of fine champagnes. And when you’re on top of the champagne world like that, it’s not surprising that Champagne maisons are more willing to work with you to create something special – enter the exclusive cuvée, Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Essentiel Atlas.

This collaboration started last year when former Atlas sommelier Mason Ng and current Atlas head sommelier Lucas Liu travelled to Champagne; they spent two days tasting different dosages in Piper-Heidsieck’s laboratory to select their final blend with the help of former Piper-Heidsieck Chef de Caves Séverine Frerson – she recently announced a move to Perrier-Jouët – before being finalised for bottling.

If you’re not familiar with Piper-Heidsieck’s Essentiel program, it’s an initiative that is designed for the Champagne house to collaborate with industry professionals to create exclusive, limited-edition expressions like the one for Atlas. And since Piper-Heidsieck doesn’t technically own vineyards – it sources grapes from many different vignerons across the Champagne region – there’s actually a lot more leeway and breadth for the brand to explore such collaborations that go beyond its “house” style.

Like the other Essentiel expressions, the Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Essentiel Atlas is a non-vintage brut. Altas head sommelier Lucas Liu describes the special cuvée as pale gold in the eyes with notes of fresh red apple, Meyer lemon, white jasmine, apple blossom, porcini mushrooms, and crushed almond on the palate.

The first run of 2,500 bottles of Piper-Heidsieck Cuvée Essentiel Atlas is available exclusively at Atlas on the Champagne “La Prestige” menu; it is also featured in the dining menu at S$25++ by the glass, and S$150++ per bottle. The cuvée is also available as the exclusive champagne pairing option with Atlas’ Afternoon Tea menu for a special price of S$20 nett by the glass.
