Malt & Wine Asia picks Australia’s Handpicked Wines to help spearhead its foray into Singapore’s HoReCa F&B space.

Malt & Wine Asia has been very busy these past months since its founding in mid-2018. The Singapore-based wine and spirits distributor snagged distribution rights for a range of products from Brown-Forman – including its vaunted Scottish distilleries of GlenDronach, Glengassaugh and BenRiach – as well as Nomad Whisky, a collaboration between sherry producer González Byass and Whyte & Mackay’s master blender Richard Paterson.

To beef up its wine portfolio Malt & Wine Asia has also landed Australia’s Handpicked Wines. Unlike a traditional winery model, Handpicked Wines curates – or ‘handpicks’, where it gets its name – wine offerings from different wine regions and grape varieties from across Australia and beyond. Malt & Wine Asia will be offering a range of around 12 wines from Handpicked Wines, with a particular focus on wines from Victoria, Australia’s Mornington Peninsula.

These include Handpicked Regional Selection Pinot Noir, Handpicked Collection Pinot Noir, Handpicked Single Vineyard Pinot Noir, Handpicked Single Vineyard Chardonnay, from Mornington Peninsula; Handpicked Collection Cabernet Sauvignon from Margaret River; Handpicked Regional Selection Shiraz from Barossa; Handpicked Regional Selection Cabernet Sauvignon from Coonawarra; as well as the Handpicked Regional Selection Rose and Handpicked Regional Selection Chardonnay from Yarra Valley. These wines are all vinified under the direction of Handpicked Wine’s Director of Winemaking, Peter Dillon. Previously Dillon spent years working as a winemaker with South Australia’s Accolade Wines, as well as with Larry Cherubino from Western Australia.

“Singaporeans are well-versed in Australian wines, and no less experienced in high quality, vineyard-focused editions such as the ones made by Handpicked Wines,” shared James Hunt, export director for Handpicked Wines.

“We’re delighted to partner with Malt & Wine Asia to present the market with a range of wines that will be well-received for its unique brand story, market positioning and quality, as evinced by the numerous awards we’ve picked up along the way,” he added.
