Tiger Beer introduces its range of 20 “Tiger District” limited edition bottles, each of which celebrates a particular district in Singapore.
Singapore’s favourite local commercial beer Tiger Beer may be known for many things, but probably the most striking of all has been its support for local culture. Over the past few years it has been a strong vocal supporter of local hawker culture, for example, and is also a proponent of local artists. This time though it’s set to rally local pride across Singapore by introducing a range of limited edition bottles, each of which represents a particular district in Singapore.
Each of the 20 “Tiger District” bottles comes emblazoned with a design representing a recognisable landmark in that particular district; for example, Bugis illustrates the iconic Bugis Street, while Toa Payoh is depicted by HDB Hub at Toa Payoh Central. It can be a fun exercise trying to identify each of the various landmarks, and you’re true blue Singaporean if you can name even half of the landmarks characterised on each bottle.
The liquid within these limited edition beers though is exactly the same as the one in the standard Tiger Beer bottle. It would have been rather winning if Tiger Beer customised a different beer for each district; Yishun, for example, could have gotten a higher ABV as a hat tip to its “dangerous” reputation, while Holland Village could have been represented by Tiger White considering its large white expatriate population. But we’re just quibbling here; Tiger District is still a great way to pay tribute to the different areas in Singapore.
“From local beer to celebrated global icon, Tiger has always been fiercely proud of our heritage as a local beer that is born in Singapore and brewed fresh in our backyard in Tuas. No one knows the local flavours like we do and the Tiger district bottles are our way to rally Singapore together in celebration of what it means to be born in Singapore,” said Faye Wee, Marketing Director of Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore.
