Changi Airport Group and DFS Group’s new e-commerce platform iShopChangiWines.com to offer wines, champagnes and sakes that have their duties and GST absorbed to non-travelers.

Airport operator Changi Airport Group and luxury travel retailer DFS Group have announced the launch of iShopChangiWines.com, an e-commerce platform to offer a wide range of alcoholic beverages such as wines, champagnes and sake to the Singapore general public, even those without a boarding pass. With this move, not only can non-travelers get access to travel retail group’s range of wines, champagnes, and sakes, they can do so at prices with duties and GST already absorbed and up to 30 litres (around 40 bottles) worth per day.

This comes after the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS) and Singapore Customs earlier this year revised duty free allowances downwards for travellers from three litres to two litres.

This new online sales platform by DFS is said to be an extension of its 2016 initiative to allow passengers going through Changi Airport can buy unlimited selected bottles of wine at duty-free prices except now you don’t need a boarding pass to get that privilege. Products – some of them exclusive – you can get include the Robert Mondavi Maestro, Tommasi Della Valpolicella Classico Amarone, Carbon Blanc de Blancs, and Penfolds Max’s The Promise.

“The launch of the new iShopChangiWines.com e-shopping site marks Changi Airport latest move in making shopping accessible to consumers even if they do not have a boarding pass to fly. Not only do they get to pick from the wide selection of premium products specially curated by DFS, they will also enjoy the privileges presented by Changi Rewards, the airport’s loyalty rewards programme,” said Teo Chew Hoon, Group Senior Vice President, Airside Concessions at Changi Airport Group.

“The launch of iShopChangiWines.com is a significant milestone for DFS at Changi Airport as we bring our standards of quality and value, with added convenience to consumers,” said Prashant Mahboobani, DFS Group General Manager, Singapore.

Currently spirits – such as whiskies, cognacs, gin etc – are not offered on the iShopChangiWines.com platform; chances are travellers are most likely to max out their travel allowance on spirits if they can now get their wines direct from DFS without travelling.
