Japanese bar restaurant Kinki has an a la carte brunch on Saturday and public holidays – the Kinki Bottomless Brunch – that is a great way to kick off any weekend.

Japanese bar restaurant Kinki, located at Customs House along the Marina Bay waterfront, doesn’t quite come to mind for a weekend brunch. Its location in the heart of Singapore’s Central Business District means it’s actually really popular with the business lunch crowd, and is more of drinking hole when evening sets. But its Saturday weekend brunch – the Kinki Bottomless Brunch – may be its most delectable offering yet.

At the price of $58++ a person, the contemporary urban Japanese bar restaurant will roll out, a la carte, a plethora of Japanese favourites for your gastronomic pleasure. Granted Kinki’s spread doesn’t quite have the variety of dishes of other buffet-style Japanese restaurants, but the necessary – sushi, sashimi, and even a wagyu beef bowl – feature on their menu so you still have plenty to indulge in.

So you’re looking at free-flow sashimi, sushi and sushi rolls – made with salmon, yellowtail, tuna, swordfish, among others – as well as a number of Japanese salads, and cooked items such as fried vegetables or garlic fried rice. We highly recommend you opt for the aburi sushi, the seared sushi not often found in most other spreads.

Here you get to pick a main too. The Wagyu Foie Gras Donburi – one of Kinki’s weekday lunch set bestsellers – leaps to the fore as an obvious choice, but the unassuming Wagyu Beef Udon is also rather comfortingly tasty. The Kurobuta Katsu, which comes as a Japanese curry rice, is likewise a good option if you’re particularly hungry.

What does make the Kinki Bottomless Brunch a bit different from most of its ilk is the free-flow option for alcoholic drinks; for an addendum of $35++ you get unlimited pours of sake, sochu, Prosecco or beer (pick one). And that’s where the drinks-friendly bar bites come in – the deep fried squid tentacles, Satsuma-age fish cake, and deep fried river shrimps are all perfect washed down with booze.

You’ll also find that because of the alcoholic offerings Kinki’s weekend brunch is less popular with the family crowd, which makes it a more attractive option for a place to while away your Saturday brunch afternoon.

Kinki’s Bottomless Brunch is priced at $58++ per pax, and is available every Saturday and on public holidays. Free-flow soft drinks, tea, still and sparkling water are available for $5++ per person. Alcoholic options like sake, shochu and prosecco will set you back another $35++ per type of liquor and beer.
