Asia’s 50 Best Bars has named Singapore’s Manhattan as winner of its inaugural Michter’s Art of Hospitality award, in recognition of the cocktail bar’s top-of-class service standards.

Legendary cocktail bar Manhattan at the Regent Singapore has garnered many an award in its lifetime, but the latest is definitely a hat-tip in recognition of its world-class hospitality. William Reed Business Media’s Asia’s 50 Best Bars has just named the six-year old cocktail bar the winner of its inaugural Michter’s Art of Hospitality award, adding yet another feather to its already well-adorned cap.

“We are pleased to recognise Manhattan’s continuous dedication to hospitality and ever-increasing efforts to offer perfect service. We have introduced the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award to show due recognition to what is a vital component of any bar experience. Manhattan has maintained a strong presence on Asia’s 50 Best Bars list since its inception, and the team’s unwavering commitment to maximising the guest experience truly makes them a worthy recipient of the inaugural award,” shared Mark Sansom, Content Editor for Asia’s 50 Best Bars.

Opened in 2014, Manhattan at Regent Singapore is inspired by the Golden Age of Cocktails that took place in New York, and is home to the world’s first in-hotel rickhouse. Over the years Manhattan – which very recently celebrated its 6th anniversary- has won many local, regional and international accolades. In fact Asia’s 50 Best Bars named it Asia’s best bar in 2017 and 2018. Manhattan is currently led by head bartender Sophia Kang and bar manager David Nguyen-Luu.

“Being recognised by our peers across Asia is an absolute honour for us, and a huge testament to our service ethos. We are truly humbled to receive the Michter’s Art of Hospitality Award for 2020, and we thank Asia’s 50 Best Bars for the support in helping to lift industry spirits with such great recognitions, especially during these tough times,” said David Nguyen-Luu, bar manager of Manhattan.

“Also, a very big thank you to all the other bars in Asia who continue to inspire us – we are all in this together,” added Nguyen-Luu.

Manhattan’s award wine comes in a time of extreme hardship for the F&B and hospitality industry across the world from lockdowns due to coronavirus; in fact the Regent Singapore bar is currently closed due to Singapore’s circuit breaker lockdown measures.

The Michter’s Art of Hospitality award is the second of a series of special awards announced as part of its annual list award reveal that will take place in May later this year; Bar Trigona in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia was earlier named winner of the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award, the second consecutive year it has won the award.

The fifth edition of the Asia’s 50 Best Bars will be unveiled in a digital countdown on 14 May, beginning at 7pm Singapore time.
