Singapore’s Tiger Beer has brewed a regional initiative, #SupportOurStreets, in aid of F&B businesses suffering from the impact of COVID-19.

Homegrown beer brand Tiger Beer has kicked off special initiative in support of local F&B communities – such as coffee shops, food courts, bars and restaurants – to help them tide through the business challenges of being shut in government lockdowns to contain the coronavirus spread.

Across the world, many governments have enforced strict lockdowns in various countries that have meant the closure – or severely limiting the operations – of many F&B businesses, resulting in severe financial repercussions for many of them. According to a recent survey conducted among the #savefnbsg coalition, 88% of restaurants indicated that they may not be able to survive April without assistance. Tiger Beer’s #SupportOurStreets looks to help alleviate the financial concerns of these businesses.

Running from now till 31 May 2020, Tiger Beer is encouraging consumers to support their favourite local F&B communities by pledging their financial support. All consumers need to do is to make a $10 contribution – there is no limit to the number of times they can contribute – on the Tiger Beer website, and each week the contributions are collated and all proceeds go towards the F&B community. In return, Tiger Beer will reward contributors two Tiger or Tiger Crystal beers for each $10 contribution, redeemable when the outlets resume operations to encourage footfall and support the outlets’ restart and revival.

Tiger Beer aims to raise at least $300,000 in contributions from Singaporeans, which will go directly towards more than 430 participating F&B outlets with more joining in the weeks to come. To kick off the program, Tiger Beer is starting the fund off with a $100,000 contribution. In addition, Tiger is also pledging to contribute up to $600,000 worth in beer product sponsorship to support the recovery of the F&B community.

“Tiger was born on the streets of Singapore. Without the streets and our famous F&B outlets, there would not be Tiger. As the beer of Singapore, we have strong roots in the community and have weathered many storms together with generations of Singaporeans. We want to do our part to help our local F&B partners revive faster until they can thrive again,” shared Andy Hewson, Managing Director, Asia Pacific Breweries Singapore.

“#SupportOurStreets is our pledge and the initiatives will provide a tangible means for us to come together with consumers in a bid to raise over S$1.3 million to support our local F&B community,” Hewson added.

Singapore and Malaysia are the first countries in Asia Pacific region to launch #SupportOurStreets. The regional campaign will extend to markets such as Cambodia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam.
