The World’s 50 Best Restaurants by William Reed Business Media has launched its 50 Best for Recovery coronavirus recovery initiative to help restaurants and bars get back on their feet.

William Reed Business Media, the company behind The World’s 50 Best Restaurants – whose family of lists also include The World’s 50 Best Bars, Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants, and Asia’s 50 Best Bars – has announced a three-pronged campaign to help the F&B industry worldwide that’s been devastated by the current coronavirus pandemic. Its 50 Best for Recovery initiative looks to “provide tangible financial relief where possible, as well as create and collate helpful resources for bar businesses as they emerge from the pandemic and seek actionable advice and support”.

One-third of 50 Best for Recovery is the 50 Best Recovery Fund, which sees a sum of money raised from generous donors such as founding donor Perrier that can be tapped by non-profit organisations to support and revive the ailing F&B sector hit by worldwide lockdowns through tangible financial relief wherever possible.

Another component is The World’s 50 Best Restaurants Recovery Hub and  The World’s 50 Best Bars Recovery Hub, online content portals that provides advice, information and inspiration for the global F&B sector. Topics covered range from mental health advice for hospitality workers to training and development programs for the bar industry.

The final part of 50 Best for Recovery is its virtual Recovery Summits – there will be one in September for the restaurant world, followed by another for the bar industry in October. The Recovery Summits look to gather the global gastronomic and bar community together to participate in a range of online events including masterclasses, talks, case studies, interviews and discussion forums to share learnings, promote best practices and explore visions of a post-pandemic world for restaurants and bars.

“With 50 Best for Recovery, we aim to utilise our network, our relationships and our global reach to provide tangible help to as many restaurant businesses as possible across the world. We stand alongside our partners in supporting the gastronomic community as a whole and fervently hope we can assist in promoting and accelerating the rebirth of restaurants of all types after this unprecedented period of suffering,” said William Drew, Director of Content for The World’s 50 Best Restaurants.

“We took a step back to examine our strengths and work out how we can best apply these to provide concrete help to the bar community. We must all work in unison to give back to the community, so that the bars themselves can get back into the business of creating memories for guests that last a lifetime,” added Mark Sansom, Content Editor for The World’s 50 Best Bars.
