Singapore has been named by TIME Magazine as one of 100 unique destinations in its World’s Greatest Places 2021 list.
Singapore was among the 100 places that TIME Magazine announced in its annual World’s Greatest Places 2021 list. The 2021 list – and TIME Magazine’s third so far – was released earlier this week, and named the city state as one of the magazine’s top destinations from around the world as compiled by its international network of correspondents and industry experts.
We’re not too sure exactly what criteria TIME Magazine used to determine the winners. In the Singapore listing the magazine named The Clan Hotel Singapore and Dusit Thani Laguna hotel as reasons to visit the city state, and even mentioned Singapore’s SingapoRediscovers program that issues vouchers to residents to spend on various attractions.
Other worthy mentions around the Southeast Asia region named in the TIME Magazine World’s Greatest Places 2021 list are:
- Desaru Coast, Johor, Malaysia
- Siem Reap, Cambodia
- Bangkok, Thailand
- Khao Yai National Park, Thailand
- Hanoi, Vietnam
- Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam
- Phu Quoc, Vietnam
Wine lovers won’t be too surprised to see California’s Napa Valley named for its beautiful wine country and amazing wine tasting rooms. And the foodies among us are likely to salivate over the descriptions for Mendoza, Argentina’s wine-soaked outdoor dining, Ljubljana, Slovenia’s award-studded gastronomic scene, and Ho Chi Minh City’s culinary creativity.
But the list can make for painful reading for those of us who have been unable to travel due to the ongoing global coronavirus pandemic. As for me I’ll be adding Helsinki, Finland and Reykjavik, Iceland from this list to my places to visit, while I’m also craving a return visit to Edinburgh, Scotland and Hokkaido, Japan.
Which of these destinations in TIME Magazine World’s Greatest Places 2021 list do you most want to visit?
