Ardbeg has released a new sample whisky set, the Ardbeg Monsters of Smoke, a trio of its peated favourites perfect for a whisky lover’s Halloween.
Trick or treat? Well Ardbeg has certainly put in the treat this coming Halloween for those who love their peated whisky with the launch of its new sample set, the Ardbeg Monsters of Smoke.
The Ardbeg Monsters of Smoke is a small whisky pack consisting of three 20cl sample-sized bottles of their most iconic whiskies. There’s the classic Ardbeg Ten Years Old, the Ardbeg Wee Beastie, as well as the Ardbeg An Oa. What’s fabulous about this sample set is that while it’s certainly perfect for those who’ve never tried the peated whiskies from the Islay-based distillery, even long-term fans won’t be adverse to receiving this pack as a gift.
And that’s because Ardbeg Monsters of Smoke is an excellent representation of Ardbeg house style. The Ardbeg Ten Years Old is called ‘The Original Giant’ for good reason; this entry-level expression is indicative of its signature style, a well-integrated combination of smoky peat, briny ocean spray, herbal and grassy overtones, as well as sweet citrus fruit.
For something new there’s the Ardbeg Wee Beastie, officially introduced just last year as part of the distillery’s Ultimate Range. Named for the mystical creatures in Islay legends, this young 5 years old is a scarily and powerfully punchy whisky that comes in at 47.4% ABV.
Finally there’s the Ardbeg An Oa, possibly the distillery’s most balanced whisky on offer. This non-age statement expression is vatted with liquid from various cask types – including PX sherry, ex-bourbon, and virgin oak, among others – that offers hallmark Ardbeg notes that’s more well-rounded in nature. Expect flavours of chocolate and liquorice, along with butterscotch and lapsang souchong notes.
What’s also particularly about the Ardbeg Monsters of Smoke? Its packaging. Each of the collectable bottle comes with a special label that you peel away to reveal some… special artwork beneath that’s inspired by old-school horror movies.

Ideal for both veteran Ardbeggians and those new to our whisky, we look forward to everybody enjoying the whisky, and discovering what’s beneath the one-of-a-kind peel and reveal labels,” shared Dr Bill Lumsden, Ardbeg’s Director of Distilling and Whisky Creation.

The Ardbeg Monsters of Smoke trio pack will be available in Singapore from 20 October 2021, and can be purchased from Le Vigne Wines & Spirits and Asher BWS at the recommended retail price of S$118. The first 100 consumers to purchase a pack will also receive a pair of complimentary tickets to any award-winning Halloweenie film at The Projector including Impetigore, Let the Right One in and Pan’s Labyrinth. Tickets are valid for redemption from 20 October to 28 November 2021.
