For the month of February, cosy pocket cocktail bar 50Fifty will be running Sidedoor x 50Fifty, a limited-edition menu by 2am:dessertbar in collaboration with private dining and cocktail experience purveyors Sidedoor.

Multi-hand dining collaboration dinners are a dime a dozen these days, but this particular tie-up was one just waiting to happen. Recently-launched pocket cocktail bar 50Fifty and 2am:dessertbar by Janice Wong has partnered up with private dining and cocktail operator Sidedoor for a special experience this month of February.

Husband and wife team Chef Tryson Quek and talented bartender Bannie Kang of Sidedoor were the team that formerly founded and ran award-winning cocktail bar MU:Taipei. Before that, they were head chef and head bartender respectively at Fairmont Singapore’s lobby bar Anti:dote (where they met and fell in love).

As for her cocktail chops, Kang is a serial award winner, claiming the title of Best Female Bartender at The Bar Awards in 2014 and 2015, and landing the Diageo World Class Global Winner in 2019, among others. Quek too is a culinary genius, concocting some of the most whimsical dishes to pair with Kang’s cocktail creations. Their winning combination led them to start private dining experience Sidedoor when they returned to Singapore from Taipei.

Sidedoor x 50Fifty - Ugly Duckling, Cow On Field, Green Land & Clean Water

For Sidedoor x 50Fifty, the special collaboration menu features six exquisite courses by Quek paired with four cocktails crafted by Kang. Quek’s intricate creations include Algae, a refreshing oyster appetiser with cucumber and kombu, as well as Ugly Duckling, a dish of confit duck rillette and foie gras touched by maple.

The Sidedoor x 50Fifty experience is also a tie-up with Edrington Group, brand owners of The Macallan, Brugal Rum, and Naked Malt. As such, Kang will be presenting cocktails made with those spirits. These include White Meat, a fancy twist on the Mai Tai using Brugal Bianco, as well as Double Red, a fruity take on the Manhattan using the Macallan Double Oak and strawberries.

“Bannie, Tryson, and I are tremendously excited to collaborate on this culinary journey alongside the complementary cocktail selection and we hope that guests will enjoy all of the individual components that have been conceptualised by us,” said Janice Wong.

The Sidedoor x 50Fifty six hands dinner will be available throughout February at 50Fifty, with limited seats available each day, priced at S$138++ per person. Reservations can be made here.
