Tapas,24 has unveiled new dishes and exclusive limited-time menus to coincide with Chef Carles Abellán’s visit to Singapore.

Tapas,24 Singapore will see its celebrated chef Carles Abellán visit for the first time this month. The Singapore outlet – first opened in the middle of 2021 right smack during the height of the coronavirus pandemic – was the wildly-popular Barcelona chain’s first foray into Asia, bringing an authentic taste of Barcelona-style tapas culture here in collaboration with the L’Angélus Group.

To coincide with Chef Carles Abellán’s inaugural visit, Tapas,24 Singapore has unveiled a number of new dishes to refresh its menu, as well as special lunch and dinner menus curated by Chef Carles.

For those who haven’t heard of Chef Carles Abellán, the Catalonian chef is a celebrated culinary figure in Spain. A disciple of Ferran Adrià – he of El Bulli fame – Abellán is a proponent of new Spanish cuisine, his Michelin-starred Comerç 24 making waves for introducing an avante-garde approach to tapas dining before it closed in 2015. He opened the first Tapas,24 in Barcelona in 2006 to great success, championing an imaginative yet casual approach to tapas that took Spain – and now Singapore – by storm.

For his visit, the bar restaurant will present a slew of exclusive ‘Carles Abellán Specials’, limited-time dishes available from 17 to 27 February 2022. These one-off items include Calçots (a Catalan classic of grilled spring onions with tangy Salvichada/salbitxada sauce), and Squid Ink Paella. Then there are updated versions of popular Tapas,24 favourites – there’s the King Crab Ensaladilla Rusa, the Russian salad revamped into one using generous amount of king crab and tobiko, while the Truffle Spanish Tortilla takes the usual egg omelette and luxes it up with pancetta instead of chorizo, and tops that off with black truffle personally hand-carried from Spain by Chef Carles. We love too the McFoie Burger, a mini panini sandwiching a foie gras and beef patty, served alongside a delectable foie gras mousse.

Tapas,24 Singapore will also be offering special set menus – with a wine pairing option – for lunch and dinner on 25 to 27 February 2022. The set menus for lunch will include many of the ‘Carles Abellán Specials’ – perfect if you’d like to try as many of these special dishes at a go – while the set dinner will in addition offer popular Tapas,24 dishes such as Pan Con Tomate, Jamón Ibérico de Bellota, and Clams in Sherry.

The McFoie Burger is decadence in a bite.

“I am really looking forward to meeting my Singapore supporters who have been crucial in the success of Tapas,24 here, especially during this unpredictable period,” Chef Carles Abellán said. “The very soul of my restaurant lies in the ‘organised disorder’ of tapas enjoyment – it’s fun, friendly and above all, full of life. This limited-edition menu represents my journey so far, incorporating unique ingredients and unexpected pairings.”

“My heart, soul and energy go into my cooking, and I hope that this menu will bring positivity and excitement in these times,” Chef Carles added.
