Savour the dawning of spring with a deluge of specialty Roku Gin cocktails across top bars and restaurants across town this season.

Spring season has always been somewhat special to Japanese gin brand Roku Gin. After all, a couple of the key botanicals that go into making the gin are the leaves and flowers of the sakura, Japan’s iconic cherry blossom trees that bloom during springtime.

So as is with last year where it celebrated the arrival of spring with six seasonal cocktail collaborations, this 2022 Roku Gin has upped the ante by working with nine glittering venues to offer us exclusive Roku Gin cocktails that taste of spring. Every one of these bars and restaurants will be offering not one, but three cocktails each depicting a different facet of spring.

The full list of participating venues is as follows:

  • MO Bar at Mandarin Oriental Singapore
  • VUE
  • Good Luck
  • Smoke & Mirrors
  • One-Ninety Bar at Four Seasons Hotel Singapore
  • Last Word
  • Here Kitty Kitty
  • Lil’ Tiger
  • Taki Izakaya Bar
Roku Gin spring cocktails - Smoke & Mirrors
Smoke & Mirrors will be offering (from left) the Buena Vista (gin sour), its Negroni twist Above The Clouds, and Journey to the South (gin and tonic).

We like that this year the Roku Gin has partnered with some of our favourite cocktail bars in town too! For example, award-winning hotel lounge MO Bar – which entered the World’s 50 Best Bars list at No.36 last year – sees bar supervisor Anne Princena put together Scent of Love, a fragrant creation made of Roku Gin, Sakura cordial of yuzu and cherry, strawberry, and lime bitters; the fruit-forward Kazumi with Roku Gin, red fruits green tea, strawberry milk, and fresh kiwi, and a creamy concoction in Mankai, which sees Roku Gin mixed with matcha milk tea and strawberry milk.

Over at One-Ninety Bar in Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, beverage manager Gabriel Carlos imprints his Filipino twists to his spring cocktails. There’s Carnaval, a gin sour made of Roku Gin, pineapple juice, lemon juice, thyme and fennel syrup, apricot brandy, egg white and topped off with ginger beer. Then there’s Hanami, a beautifully floral tipple created with Roku Gin, peach liqueur, lemon juice, shiso mint syrup, and London Essence bitter orange and elderflower tonic. Fallas on the other hand is his spring take on a White Negroni – this is Roku Gin, Mancino Bianco infused with chamomile and lemongrass, Suze Gentian and Fernet Hunter.

Roku Gin spring cocktails - Lil Tiger
Gavin Teravasan of Lil’ Tiger will showcase Put A Spring On It (Martini), Spring Time Tonic (gin and tonic), and Tochigi (gin fizz).

At Last Word – one of the newest cocktail bars in town, with a focus on reimagined classics – bar manager Shelley Tai leans in on her native Hong Kong for her three spring-inflected Roku Gin cocktails. Her gin sour Wake-Up Call is a heady combination of Roku Gin, basil, lime, and egg white that’s spiked with a touch of horseradish, while the Rhubarb is a tangy clarified milk punch made with Roku Gin, rhubarb, vanilla, and clarified milk. Finally there’s Apple, a fizzy concoction of Roku Gin infused with smoked pasilla, salted plum, and clarified green apple.

So how about putting a spring in your step as you head down to try these seasonal cocktails?

These exclusive Roku Gin spring cocktails are available at participating venues from 11 April till end May 2020.
