The 48YO Johnnie Walker Masters of Flavour NFT is available solely on BlockBar, combining exceptionally rare whisky with digital art and an exclusive VIP brand experience.

In what is certainly the surest sign that the luxury spirits and fine wine sector is embracing newfangled blockchain technology, Johnnie Walker has launched a rare whisky collection on BlockBar, the world’s first direct-to-consumer NFT marketplace for luxury wines and spirits.

World’s leading blended Scotch whisky brand Johnnie Walker last week released its 48YO Johnnie Walker Masters of Flavour NFTs, available only on the NFT marketplace. Each of the seven rare bottles in that limited edition series comprises of an exceptionally rare 40-year old whisky exclusively crafted for the online marketplace, along with specially commissioned digital art by Melbourne, Australia-based graphic artist Kode Abdo – better known as BossLogic.

Each bottle also grants its buyer an exclusive brand experience that includes a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Johnnie Walker Princes Street – the brand’s visitor experience in Edinburgh, Scotland, where they will immerse themselves in the flavour journey of Johnnie Walker and the country’s whisky-making culture – as well as a tour of the historic Glenkinchie distillery, which includes a VIP tasting of only the rarest and most collectible whiskies from Diageo’s collection.

Particularly for the whisky aficionado, what’s of note about the 48YO Johnnie Walker Masters of Flavour NFT is the rare liquid within. It’s made from a blend that draws on increasingly rare stocks of four of Diageo’s ghost distilleries – Port Dundas, Brora, Glen Albyn and Glenury Royal – and presented in a hand-blown, green baccarat Crystal decanter and housed in a handcrafted wooden cabinet.

“This innovative collaboration with BlockBar puts Johnnie Walker at the cutting edge of what is possible in whisky, providing something truly unique for whisky aficionados and collectors around the world,” said Johnnie Walker Global Brand Director, Julie Bramham.

“This partnership demonstrates how an NFT can be so much more than just one product, it can be an experience like no other that offers buyers exclusive long-lasting access to a brand, its heritage and its future,” pointed out Dov Falic, CEO and co-founder of BlockBar.

Falic believes that BlockBar’s NFT marketplace helps to democratise spirits and wine investment. “We (provide) an accessible point of investment for both crypto enthusiasts who are keen to access fine wines and luxury spirits, and for luxury wines and spirits collectors looking to get into crypto/NFTs for its different use cases. We are seeing a totally new luxury consumer for brands to reach through BlockBar on a global scale,” Falic added.

BlockBar recently partnered world’s leading luxury wines and spirits brands including Glenfiddich, The Dalmore, Hennessy, and Penfolds, with rare and exclusive to BlockBar drops on the marketplace.

The 48YO Johnnie Walker Masters of Flavour NFT was officially released on BlockBar on 31 May 2022 priced at US$35,000 each, available for purchase with ETH or by fiat. Find out more over at https://blockbar.com/.
