Celebrate Mid Autumn Festival with these indulgent alcoholic mooncakes ranging from unique creations inspired by cocktails to those infused with gin.

Mid Autumn Festival means many mooncakes. But we’re not interested in just any mooncake – we like ours with booze in them!

If you’re just like us, here is a roundup of some of the more interesting alcoholic mooncakes available this year’s Mid Autumn Festival:

Brass Lion Butterfly Pea Gin with Pandan and Lemongrass Snow-Skin Mooncake from Raffles Hotel Singapore

When it comes to mooncakes Raffles Hotel Singapore is most famous for its signature Champagne Truffle Snow-Skin Mooncake, a perennial favourite among mooncake lovers. But this year, to celebrate its 135th anniversary, the iconic hotel has also partnered Singapore distillery Brass Lion for a special limited edition mooncake.

The Brass Lion Butterfly Pea Gin with Pandan and Lemongrass Snow-Skin Mooncake takes the homegrown distillery’s blue-hued Butterfly Pea Gin and combines that with sweet fresh pandan and citrusy lemongrass in lotus seed paste for a uniquely local flavour. Another one of its newly-introduced seasonal alcoholic mooncakes is the Baileys Chocolate Truffle Snow-Skin Mooncake, which comers as a cocoa- and coffee-infused filling with a chocolate truffle containing Baileys Irish Cream liqueur that explodes with deliciously boozy creaminess in your mouth.

But if you’re more of a traditional bent, the classic baked Double Yolk with Macadamia Nuts and White Lotus Paste Mooncake remains a crowd-pleaser, while the opulent Mother-of-Pearl with Single Yolk and White Lotus Paste Mooncake – encased in its elegant ivory box reflecting the heritage hotel’s façade – makes a refined gift that’s set to impress.

Raffles Hotel Singapore Mooncakes are now available for orders online at
rafflescelebrations.com.sg. From 13 July to 10 September 2022, the Raffles Hotel Singapore mooncake booth will open daily from 9am to 8pm at the North Bridge Road Atrium of Raffles Arcade for mooncake purchase or collections for online orders.

Origin Bar’s Cocktail Snowskin Mooncakes from Shangri-La Singapore

Cosy cocktail lounge Origin Bar at Shangri-La Singapore – which ranked at No.66 on Asia’s 50 Bars 2022 earlier this year – has this year unveiled a tantalising selection of limited-edition Origin Bar Cocktail Snowskin Mooncakes set.

The set features two different flavours inspired by the bar’s signature cocktails. One flavour borrows on the profile of Origin’s signature Urban Jungle cocktail, combining spiced pineapple marmalade, lime zest, white lotus paste, white chocolate gin truffle, dry gin and vermouth into one unique mooncake creation. The other is a mooncake take on its ever popular rum-based Negroni, and is filled with rich dark chocolate paste, spiced chocolate rum, Campari and vermouth. These alcoholic mooncakes come as a set of eight (four of each flavour) along with a bottled cocktail – the specially concocted Moon Tipplers – and presented in a robin egg-blue box fashioned to look like luggage.

If you’re none too keen on booze-flavoured cocktails, Shangri-La Singapore also offers the exceptional Shangri-La Mooncake Selection Gift Box with 50-year aged mandarin peel, and the elegant Signature Mini Baked Custard with Bird’s Nest for more traditional palates.

Shangri-La Singapore’s mooncakes are now available for purchase online at bit.ly/SLSMooncake22, and from the Mooncake Specialty Counter at the hotel’s Tower Wing Lobby from 16 July to 10 September 2022.
