Singapore’s drinks calendar gets a boost with the addition of rum-focused festival Rum & Roll Rendezvous by InterContinental Singapore and The Rum Cartel that will take place in July this year.

Rum enthusiasts, mark this down on your calendars. InterContinental Singapore and The Rum Cartel has partnered for Rum & Roll Rendezvous, a wholly new rum festival that will take place in July later this month.

Held over three days from Friday 26 to Sunday 28 July 2024 at InterContinental Singapore, the inaugural rum-centric festival is set to bring together and showcase some of the best rums available in Singapore for enthusiasts and connoisseurs alike to sample and enjoy.

Rum, rhum or ron-loving festival goers can expect to see the iconic rums from the Caribbean such as Jamaica’s Appleton Estate to Barbados’ Mount Gay to South America with the likes of Nicaragua’s Flor de Caña and Columbia’s Santa Teresa. Not to mention the popular and ever-so-reliable Cuban-style rum of Puerto Rico’s Bacardi, as well!

Each of the three days of the inaugural Rum & Roll Rendezvous offer vastly different rum centric activities. Kicking of the festivities on the first day is ‘The Extravaganza’, an opening party with the sultry sounds of live Latin music, fiery dance moves, and a tantalising array of free-flowing rum cocktails, wines, and light bites, with access to Bacardi rum tastings and other masterclasses.

Day 2 of Rum & Roll Rendezvous is split into two components. ‘Rum & Roll Immersion’ is a full-on tasting journey for the serious rum bon vivant, with a curated selection of the finest rums for sampling at The Lobby Lounge in InterContinental Singapore as guided by various brand ambassadors. Come evening is ‘Rum and Roll to the Tropical Pool Party’, which transforms the hotel’s pool into a party atmosphere where you can indulge in various rum tastings as well as a selection of food and drink available for purchase on-site. Dipping into the pool is optional (but highly encouraged).

And in case that’s not enough, there’s an afterparty on both Day 1 and Day 2. Those keen to continue their revelry will be invited to join the after party happening at El Pico, a cosy Cuban-inspired lounge over at Hong Kong Street.

Day 3 is a more sedate affair. The ‘Rum & Roll Champagne Brunch Buffet sees InterContinental Singapore’s signature Italian restaurant LUCE level up their usual Champagne brunch affair to include free-flowing rum cocktails as well as a collection of rums available for tastings.

Wait, there’s more. InterContinental Singapore is also offering two exclusive stay packages to coincide with the festival for those looking for a complete experience. The ‘Stay 3 Pay 2’ package (priced at S$430++ per night for the Classic Room) lets you enjoy the rum fest in its entirety, while ‘Rum Retreat’ (priced from S$435++ per night for the Classic Room) is catered to those looking for a one-night stay with access to the day’s events of their choice.
