Whisky bar The Cooperage will be hosting a BenRiach Batch 16 whisky tasting on Wednesday 25 September 2019 that will feature single cask whiskies celebrating the distillery’s ingenious and creative approach to whisky distilling and cask maturation especially using ex-wine casks.
Speyside-based BenRiach displays all the traditional charm of a Scottish distillery. First founded in 1898, it was only operational for two years before the whisky market crash in the early 1900s. But thanks to a new golden era for Scotch whisky in the mid-1960s, BenRiach was reopened in 1965. Today the distillery is best known for producing both peated and unpeated whiskies, and over the years have experimented with several interesting wood finishes for further maturation.
For this BenRiach whisky tasting, participants will get an opportunity to taste a selection of different bottlings from its BenRiach Batch 16 in both unpeated and peated styles. These expressions will be an exploration of further cask finishing, and are as follows:
The tasting will be guided by Stuart Fear, regional brand ambassador for BenRiach.
This BenRiach Batch 16 whisky tasting costs $78++ per person. To book a spot, email The Cooperage at [email protected] or call 8815 8658.
