[Epicurean Market] Whiskies – Peated vs Unpeated

Part of Epicurean Market at Marina Bay Sands, this whisky masterclass on Saturday 12 August 2017 from 4.30pm to 5.30pm takes participants through a detailed explanation of peated and unpeated whiskies using very rare and old whiskies to demonstrate the influence of peat and the effects of cask ageing on flavours.

Le Vigne Wines & Spirits‘ Lewis Mitchell, GCD – Institute of Brewing & Distilling (UK) will be on hand to explain the early days of whisky production when peat was used to dry malt and explain why many distilleries still choose to use this archaic process.  He will also guide participants in a tasting of a number of unpeated and peated whiskies from the Douglas Laing stable, which includes:

  • Douglas Laing Single Minded Speyside 24YO
  • Douglas Laing XOP Bunnahabhain 25YO
  • Douglas Laing Old Particular Craigellachie 21YO
  • Douglas Laing Big Peat
