PS.Cafe at Ann Siang Hill will be hosting a G.D. Vajra winemaker dinner on Thursday 30 May 2019 at 7pm featuring winemaker Eugene Mengyao Qiao from the Piedmont, Italy producer.
Qiao is an oddity in the Italian winemaking scene; the Beijing-bred China national is its first foreign female winemaker working as an assistant winemaker at Piedmont’s G.D. Vajra after earning her chops with a master’s degree in oenological studies from the University of Turin back in 2015.
Run by Aldo Vajra, Vergne-based G.D. Vajra adheres to old-school winemaking methods and produces a diverse range of wines, ranging from classic Nebbiolo- and Barbera-based red wines to crisp Langhe whites and sweet, lightly sparkling Moscato d’Asti.
