Hendrick’s Gin World Cucumber Day

June 14, 2017 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

To celebrate this year’s World Cucumber Day on Wednesday 14 June 2017 between 5pm to 9pm, Hendrick’s Gin is inviting customers to bring a (preferably home-grown) cucumber to ten bars around town in exchange for a complimentary Hendrick’s Gin and tonic cocktail.

“For many years now Hendrick’s has sought to elevate the many mysterious qualities of the humble cucumber, due to the role it plays in our most unusual gin alongside Bulgarian rose,” said Tasha Lu, Hendrick’s Gin Southeast Asia Ambassador.

“We feel there is no finer way of gaining a deeper appreciation of this inquisitive and intelligent fruit than growing one yourself. The Hendrick’s Cucumber Adoption Service aims to cultivate increased appreciation, respect and enjoyment of the cucumber species and illustrate how, like humans, they respond to stimuli and kinship,” she adds.

While Hendrick’s Gin very much prefers you to bring a cucumber that you personally grew yourself, probably the easiest and most convenient way is to buy a pack of Japanese telescopic cucumbers – they are far less watery and thus fare better in a G&T than local cucumbers – and share it among friends before you head down to one of those ten bars. Or, with the same pack, you can turn that evening into a massive G&T bar crawl.

Participating bars include Nutmeg & CloveSmoke & MirrorsCrackerJackRabbit Hole, and Tess Bar.
