Sake Festival Singapore 2019

June 22, 2019 @ 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm

$40
Sake Festival Singapore 2019

Sake Festival Singapore 2019 by Orihara Shoten will be its largest edition yet, and will feature over 460 different sake and Japanese liquors available for tasting.

The seventh edition of Sake Festival Singapore will take place on Saturday 22 June 2019 from 1 to 6pm at Suntec City Convention Centre, and will feature over 50 participating brands many of which will showcase limited-edition and seasonal sakes, including shochu, all the way from Japan.

Since 2009, Orihara Shoten, the sake bar and liquor shop located at the Japanese dining enclave of Robertson Walk, has been cultivating sake appreciation and enjoyment in Singapore. The Sake Festival Singapore is one of Orihara’s first initiatives to promote sake culture in Singapore.

What’s interesting this year is that cult favourite Dassai recently annoucned that it had discontinued its popular Dassai 50 label; it will be showcasing its replacement Dassai 45 at Sake Festival Singapore this year.  Tatenokawa, which recently collaborated with indie-pop French band Phoenix, will also be presenting their Phoenix Junmaidaiginjo and Phoenix Sparkling from the collaboration. Then there’s the new-to-market bottlings from Gasanryu – the Gokka & Reika, the fuller bodied Musubiyui Mashigura Namagenshu or the sparkling Chiyomusubi Sorah.

Sake Festival Singapore 2019 – a festival growing from strength to strength

For the first time, all transactions at Sake Festival Singapore will be transacted through the official event wristbands. Visitors will exchange their tickets for wristbands which they will use to purchase sake and food, after loading credits onto the wristbands; tasting of sake is complimentary as in previous years.

What’s also different this year is the participation for four well-known Japanese restaurants who will be providing much needed bites to supplement all the (fun) drinking. There’s Kamoshita and Kajiken who will both be selling popular festival bites such as oden, mazesoba, karaage and edamame. Nirai-Kanai will be showcasing Okinawa soba, while Yatagarasu will offer Iwate-style Wanko soba; in fact Yatagarasu will be running a Wanko soba challenge – priced at just $1 to join – where participants selected through ballot will get to eat as many bowls of soba within the time limit set.

Sake Festival Singapore 2019 will be held at Suntec City Convention Centre on Level 4 – Hall 406, on Saturday 22nd June 2018 from 1pm to 6pm with last admissions being 4:30pm.
