The Grape Escape 2019
September 1 @ 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm$40 – $100
The Sommelier Association of Singapore will be hosting The Grape Escape 2019, Singapore’s only sommelier-initiated wine tasting event for both trade and public that will be held at Four Points by Sheraton on Sunday 1 September 2019.
Following last year’s event with a focus on the Pinot Noir grape varietal, this year’s The Grape Escape by the Sommelier Association of Singapore will instead feature the theme “Grapes of Bordeaux” as the focused varietals for tasting and exploration.
This wine tasting event will see more than 100 wines from some 20 sommelier-curated industry partners for tasting and purchase, including the likes of Cellarmaster Wines, Grand Vin and Corney & Barrow. This year will also see beer and whisky on showcase, with Hong Kong’s Young Master Brewery and The Edrington Group, brand owners of The Macallan and Highland Park being featured.
Wine connoisseurs may also be interested in its paid Grapes of Bordeaux masterclass, which will highlight a tasting flight of five wines from four different countries each aged at least 20 years vinified from the signature grapes of Bordeaux such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.
The Grape Escape 2019 will also be held alongside the Singapore National Sommelier Competition 2019, where the final three finalists from previous qualifying rounds will showcase their sommelier skills on-stage for a “live” final round in front of (other) sommeliers, industry professionals, media and the public. The head judge is Master Sommelier Piotr Petras, ranked 5th in the Best Sommelier of the World 2019, along with Master Sommelier Mathias Camilleri and two Master of Wines, Annette Scarfe MW and Tan Ying Hsien MW, form the judging panel.
The cost per entry for The Grape Escape 2019 is $40 (excluding payment processing fee) per person, while the Grapes of Bordeaux masterclass is $100 per person. 25% of general ticket sales, and 100% from the sale of tickets to the Grapes of Bordeaux masterclass, will be going to Sommelier Association of Singapore’s charity partner Make-A-Wish Foundation. Tickets can be purchased here.
