Almaviva and Cantonese Classics Wine Dinner at Shang Palace

As part of Shangri-La Singapore’s inaugural Festival of Wines, Shang Palace is hosting a wine dinner on Friday 10 September 2021 that will combine classic Cantonese dishes with Chilean wines including the award-winning Almaviva.

Shang Palace will be shining a spotlight on wines from Chile at this upcoming wine dinner with three Concha y Toro labels – Almaviva, Marques de Casa Concha, and Terrunyo – as an exploration of wines made in different parts of that South American country.

Of particular note is Almaviva, which was established in 1996 by Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Château Mouton Rothschild and Concha y Toro and produces an exceptional Bordeaux-style blend in Puente Alto in Chile’s Central Valley wine region. In 2019 Almaviva was accorded with the ‘Best Recent Release: South American Red’ accolade at the inaugural Wine Pinnacle Awards.

The wines featured in this dinner are:

• 2018 Terrunyo, Sauvignon Blanc (Casablanca Valley, Chile)
• 2018 Marques de Casa Concha Chardonnay (Limari Valley, Chile)
• 2018 Almaviva (Puento Alto, Central Valley, Chile)

These wines will be paired with Cantonese dishes that have been specially curated to commemorate Shangri-La Singapore’s 50th anniversary this year. The star of the evening is the six-litre Methuselah-size 2018 Almaviva, which is paired with pan-fried Australian prime ribeye.
