An evening of South African wine

Online wine marketplace WineFamily, in partnership with Stellez Vine, will be holding a wine tasting session featuring eight different South African wines on Wednesday 9 March 2016 at Praelum Wine Bistro.
Gerard Zhang of Stellez Vine, Paul Gerken of WineFamily and Praelum Wine Bistro’s head sommelier Gerard Lu will be on hand to talk through the wines and answer the most burning questions you have about wines from the African continent.
The wine tasting event costs $30 per person or $50 for two. You can buy your tickets here. The wines will be accompanied by a selection of cheeses and biscuits.
The eight wines are:
Groot Constantia Gouverneurs Reserve (Red) 2012
A wine with a dense ruby colour. On the nose one finds ripe rich flavours like blackberry, black cherries and plums with hints of cigar box. These rich flavours follow through on the palate with hints of black pepper on the aftertaste
Groot Constantia Gouverneurs Reserve (White) 2013
Flagship White wine from South Africa oldest winery, a delectable smooth buttery white wine not to be missed at any occasion
Rickety Bridge Foundation Stone White 2015
All 5 varietals contribute to this complete and well balanced wine. Elegant with spring blossoms, restrained peach, mango and stone fruit on the nose. Subtle hints of oak spice and a refined fruit expression. A rich and well-structured wine that finishes with elegance and freshness on the palate
Swartland Winemakers Shiraz 2014
This is a beautifully medium bodied wine with complex flavours such as cinnamon, white pepper mulberries, chocolate and sweet scented violets. Firm tannins with good wood integration give a complex, but well-balanced wine with a lingering aftertaste
Swartland Contours Chenin Blanc 2014/2015
Upfront fresh tropical flavours, on the nose and palate. This fruity wine has lovely crisp finish.
Swartland D’Vine Chenin Blanc/ Sauvignon Blanc 2014
This wine has a beautiful, forthcoming and complex nose with guava, ripe figs and passion fruit aromas, as well as hints of flowery peach and zesty lime.
Swartland D’vine Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot 2013
Spicy black pepper and earthy notes observed with plums and the black fruit coming through on the palate. Medium tannins, good wood integration and well balanced with the fruit flavours.
Swartland Contours Moscato NV
Fresh and spritzy. Lovely, fresh Muscat grape aroma, like biting into a granny apple on a carpet of wild flowers in a summer meadow.
