Want to further your knowledge of whisky? You’re in luck, the Whisky Academy’s inaugural intake is now open for registration.
Led by chief instructor Matthew ‘Son of Whisky’ Fergusson-Stewart, Glenfiddich’s Southeast Asia Brand Ambassador, the Whisky Apprentice certification course by the Whisky Academy promises to educate and inspire.
Learn about the history, distillation process and appreciation of the beloved Uisge Beatha (“water of life”). Taste a spectrum of whiskies from different Scotch regions to around the world.
The Whisky Apprentice level is aimed at all whisky enthusiasts, hospitality and trade practitioners. It is the first of three certification tiers in the Whisky Academy framework.
All graduates of the course will receive certificates and lapel pins, in recognition of their garnered knowledge and expertise.

About the Academy: The Whisky Academy is an independent initiative by William Grant & Sons. Whiskies used in all TWA courses will be brand-neutral.
About the Chief Instructor and Curriculum Developer:
Matthew ‘Son of Whisky’ Fergusson-Stewart is a native Western Australian and published author with an education background in Chemistry. He was a former State Manager of the Scotch Malt Whisky Association, Director of Stewart’s Whisky Consultancy and General Manager of The Auld Alliance – Singapore. He is the current Brand Ambassador for William Grant & Sons and the Glenfiddich distillery.
About the venue:
The Belljar is a whisky concept dining destination and event space located at 18 North Canal Road. Comprising of a retail store, whisky restaurant, whisky lounge and cocktail bar, the three-storeyed building is devoted to the appreciation of whisky and sensory development.
