Here’s a good way to get acquainted with Barone Pizzini and its range of organic sparkling wines from Franciacorta, Italy.

56c4b5c7-6d3a-4c6c-8460-15d09eedc728Organised by the Italian Wine Club, the owner of the Barone Pizzini, Silvano Brescianini, will be at the In Italy Bar Ristorante this Thursday to present two organic sparkling wines from his label: the Animante Brut NV, and the Rosé DOCG 2010.

Silvano Brescianini has been pioneering organic farming and winemaking in Italy for last 20 years, producing some of the best bubbles from Italy a la méthode champenoise, or to be technically correct, the traditional method, which creates the bubblies through a second fermentation in the bottle.

There are some who say that Franciacorta is one of the best kept secrets in Italy. Located in Lombardy, northern Italy, the region is known for its sparkling wine, and is looking more and more capable of giving its more famous brethren in Champagne a run for their money.

For the evening, the Franciacorta will be paired with delicious finger food by host chef Mario Caramella: meat balls raspadura, moratadella cubes, fried prawns, mini gnocco fritto with parma ham, and risotto with Barone Pizzini rose sparkling wine. The Barone Pizzini will be free flow for the night, and all this for just a mere S$28++. Seats are limited though, so please make your reservations early to avoid disappointment.
