Even as we wind down to the end of a fantastic year that featured plenty of great whisky, we’re already getting news that 2015 will be an even better year when it comes to precious drams. On 17-18 January 2015, The Macallan will be holding “Toast The Macallan” in Singapore, a whisky appreciation event that the whisky maker says its one of the most unique on this island yet.

To be held at Marina Bay Sands, the two-day ticketed event – which was held in Taipei and Seoul earlier this year – promises to see guests immersed in an experiential and sensory journey into the world of whisky that will put the spotlight on the reasons behind some of the distinctive characteristics of The Macallan single malt whiskies that makes them some of the most desired in the world. The Macallan team and a bar will also be on hand to show visitors the art of appreciating whisky and they will be sharing their insight on the best way to enjoy your drop of The Macallan.

The Macallan Brand Ambassador Kieron Elliott will be in town to hold court during the event, but the probably the real reason why any Scotch whisky enthusiast should attend is because The Macallan will be previewing to VIP ticket-holders its new 1824 Master Series – Reflexion, the first time this particular expression is seen here in Singapore.

Macallan Reflexion v2

The Macallan Reflexion is part of the whisky maker’s 1824 Series – made using sherry seasoned Spanish and American oak casks – and features floral and vanilla notes, punctuated with fresh apples and apricots. Its angular decanter is reminiscent of its more lavish cousin, the Macallan Oscuro.

“Having enjoyed success in key global markets, we decided to bring the Toast the Macallan to Singapore with an aim to spark a connection with The Macallan among the uninitiated but aspirational whisky drinkers in the region. With its fun, interactive elements, we believe this unprecedented event will tell the personal story of The Macallan, drawing on its long history and rich traditions,” explained Geoff Kirk, Managing Director of Edrington, Southeast Asia, which owns the Macallan brand.

Macallan Brand Ambassador Kieron Elliott may be a whisky expert, but he is also an accomplished thespian and voice actor, and best known – teased – for his voice-over role as Hoark the Haggard in the animation film ‘How To Train Your Dragon’.

“We look forward to sharing a few drams of The Macallan with our guests and elaborate on what makes it a cut above the rest,” he adds.

Toast The Macallan” will be hosted by local celebrities Allan Wu and Randall Tan, and is aimed at individuals who are adventurous and keen to learn more about the single malt whisky brand’s portfolio.
