Ann Siang Hill concept bar Bar Naked has a new look, and it’s looking decidedly different with its fresh Sailor Jerry livery.
Launched in July last year, Bar Naked – fronted by the founder & CEO of Singapore’s leading artiste management company Fly Entertainment, Irene Ang, and conceptualized by multiple award social influence marketing agency GOODSTUPH – is a concept bar that combines outdoor advertising and event marketing within its premises, allowing brands to “take over” and rebrand the space as they like for a period of time. William Grant & Sons blended malt whisky brand Monkey Shoulder first dressed Bar Naked when the bar officially opened last year, and as part of their long-term partnership it’s now Sailor Jerry’s turn.
Sailor Jerry is named after renown tattoo artist Normal Keith Collins, who made a living tattooing American sailors. Sailor Jerry Limited was started about 30 years after his passing in 1973 to create a fashion and accessories line, but soon evolved to working with William Grant & Sons to produce Sailor Jerry Spiced Ru,m based on a traditional seafaring recipe.
Bar Naked’s new look was unveiled to the public on 9 January with – what else – a Sailor Jerry themed party that included rocking beats from Portuguese DJ Little Bastard, Harley Davidson rides, a pop-up tattoo parlour for some free ink as well as old-school barbering by the spiffy boys from the Hounds of the Baskervilles, and an introduction of a slew of cocktails specially created by William Grant & Sons’ Brand Champion Shah Dillon and talented bartending team. The rum-based cocktails – Jerry Loves Ginger, Aloha Yuzu!, Southside Sailors, and Shave & A Haircut – will be available during the three months of the Sailor Jerry takeover of Bar Naked.
And can we say, we’re most impressed with the big-ass Sailor Jerry mural splashed on the wall of the building facing Club Street (also for the same duration) – now even the most drunk seaman on shore leave won’t have trouble finding his way to Bar Naked.
