If you’re a hardcore oenophile, you’re going to like the month of October very much. Here’s why – the coming month will see three large scale wine events that we know of take place on our little red dot. Excited yet?

Indeed the approaching deluge of wine events – there are many other smaller wine-related events happening in October as well – is a great sign that Singapore has truly come of age as a wine market. In fact, according to Euromonitor International wine posted a steady 5% total volume growth to reach 11 million litres in Singapore in 2014, and this despite the rather brutal import duties on alcohol that can easily more than double the shelf prices of wine here compared to if you get them from their source countries.

In any case, here’s a breakdown of the three wine events in October so you know which ones will be worth your time and money on:

1. WineFamily Gathering 2015 – 17 to 18 October

winefamily gathering 2014

Online wine retail site Winefamily will be holding its annual Winefamily Gathering, an annual wine fair that showcases the portfolio of wines offered by the various participating wine merchants on the online wine marketplace. Held over three sessions across 17 and 18 October at the iconic Singapore Flyer, this year’s Winefamily Gathering will also feature a range of delicious foods to pair with the delectable wines on offer. New this year is a sparkling wine bar, which will showcase various examples of prosecco, cava, and champagne.

Tickets cost between $35-45 each, depending on which session you attend (of which $10 is convertible into a voucher to purchase wine). Wines are in sample portions, although you get a full pour token with your entry fee. Wines featured include the offerings from merchants such as A Wine Affair, Botella, Corney & Barrow, VCT Group of Wineries Asia (Concha y Toro), VINOS EXCLUSIVOS, Water & Wine, The Italian Wine List, and more.

But the best way to attend WineFamily Gathering 2015 is to buy tickets for this “Medici Ermete Italian Sparkling Wine & Food Evening” wine dinner, which comes with tickets to the wine fair.
