Western Australian brewery Little Creatures will be opening a brewery restaurant in Singapore, its second international outpost after Kennedy Town in Hong Kong.

Singaporeans are relatively familiar with Little Creatures; its original brewery in Fremantle, Perth is a popular tourist destination for Singapore visitors, and some of its core beer range have been distributed in Singapore for the past few years. But the Lion-owned brand is upping the ante by opening a brewery restaurant right here in Singapore, making it the brewery’s second venue outside of Australia after Hong Kong, and a total of four with its flagship venue in Fremantle, and another one in Geelong outside of Melbourne.

Located on Mohamed Ali Lane off Club Street in central Singapore, the all-day restaurant includes a small microbrewery that will be overseen by Little Creatures regional brewer Jum Ryan (pictured), who will run both the Singapore and Hong Kong brewery operations. Due to the limited capacity of the brew kit, the core beer range – such as the Pale Ale, Bright Ale and Dog Days Session IPA – will still be sourced from Australia; instead Ryan will be looking to do small-batch, Singapore-exclusive brews that’s suited for the Singapore climate and local palate. “I’d love to make some sour ales when our system is fully up and running,” says Ryan, who adds that sour beers, and lighter, crisper Western Australia-style ales are perfectly suited to the warm and humid weather here.

“We’re still in the process of getting the go-ahead from the authorities before we can start to brew.”

Those looking for guest beers to appear on the taps here will be disappointed; Ryan says beers served at the venue will be wholly Little Creatures, as well as some beers from sister brand White Rabbit. “It’ll all be our beers; hopefully we’ll get some collaboration beers or limited edition brews from our Hong Kong brewery over to Singapore,” Ryan admits. Little Creatures Singapore will also offer a crowler service, a special canning facility that allows patrons to “dapao” – or take home – beers from the taps by sealing them in large cans.

For those not interested in beers or alcohol, Little Creatures Singapore will carry an interesting range of hopped sodas from Hӧpt, another Lion brand. Flavours available incude Salted Lychee, Pear and Basil, Elderberry and Herb, and Apple and Cinnamon flavours.

Food-wise, Little Creatures Singapore will have a menu that’s Mediterranean-inspired with a Singapore twist. Expect the likes of pizzas, burgers, and tapas-style sharing plates; chicken rice risotto and chilli crab mantou are examples of Singapore influences.

Little Creatures Singapore plans to be open daily Mondays to Sundays from 8am to 12 midnight – coffee and a brunch menu is available daily from 8am to 11.30am.

It is slated to officially open on 30 May.
