The Tasting Alliance, America’s largest wine and spirits competition company behind the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC), launches its first Asian chapter with the Singapore World Spirits Competition.

The Tasting Alliance, the parent company of the San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC), the San Francisco International Wine Competition (SFIWC), and the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition (NYWSC), has announced the formation of Singapore World Spirits Competition (SWSC), the Asian counterpart to those competitions.

The Singapore World Spirits Competition (SWSC) will be a two-day competition featuring blind tastings from panels comprised of judges predominantly from Asia that will offer a unique Asian perspective while maintaining the same level of integrity through scrupulous judging techniques employed in SFWSC, SFWIC and NYWSC. SWSC is encouraging brands of all sizes to enter – from multinational conglomerates from the likes of Bacardi and Moet Hennessy Diageo to tiny local outfits like Singapore’s own Brass Lion Distillery or Thailand’s Chalong Bay Rum – with a particular emphasis on spirits produced and consumed in Asia. The Tasting Alliance also hope that producers of baijiu, sochu, and soju will participate to give the competition an even stronger Asian slant.

“Having been to Singapore many times, I recognise this fabulous city-state as the gateway to Asia. The Tasting Alliance is going to apply the stringent judging methodology developed over the years in San Francisco and New York to a new Singapore Competition focused on spirits available in Asia,” says Anthony Dias Blue, owner of The Tasting Alliance and a James Beard Award winner in 2000 as an “outstanding wine and spirits professional”.

“We encourage everyone marketing spirits in Asia to enter,” he adds.

The announcement of the Singapore World Spirits Competition comes at a time when Singapore’s F&B and nightlife scenes are burgeoning; Asia’s 50 Best Bars will be hosting its award ceremony on 9 May, while Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants will take place on 25 June.

The Singapore World Spirits Competition will take place at The ExciseMan Whisky Bar 5-6 June 2019. You can submit your entries to the Singapore World Spirits Competition here. Deadline to enter is 24 May 2019.
