Capitol Kempinski Oktoberfest is the newest Oktoberfest celebration in town, with the beer-guzzling and sausage-eating fest taking place on 10 to 13 October 2019.

Fans of German beer rejoice! Not only will Oktoberfest fever soon sweep through Singapore later this month, there’s even a new party in town. The Capitol Kempinski Hotel and Capitol Singapore will be organising its inaugural Oktoberfest party, and the planned four-day festivities that will take place at the outdoor plaza of Capitol Singapore promises to be a complete Volksfest celebration with plenty of Bavarian beer, German grub and oompa vibes.

While you’ll no doubt be seeing different versions of Oktoberfest take place across Singapore during the months of September and October, Capital Singapore will be holding its own version of the world’s biggest beer festival. Taking centrestage at Capitol Kempinski Oktoberfest is Paulaner’s Oktoberfest beer; Paulaner of course is one of only six Bavarian breweries officially sanctioned to make Oktoberfest beer for the original Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich, and its Märzen – so named because it’s traditionally brewed in March and left to “lager” till the party – is brewed with more hops and comes in at a higher alcohol percentage than most other lagers.

It’s the only beer offered at the party, but hey, at least it’s the right proper one. For those disinclined to imbibe, there’s also more family-friendly alcohol-free beer available. If you’re not into beer – though we’d have to ask why you’re going to a beer festival at all – there’s wine and Jagermeister.

Oktoberfest food, fun and games

As for food, expect a grand free-flow buffet of authentic German eats from Frieda Restaurant in Capitol Singapore, including the likes of Pretzel and Obazda Spread for starters, or German Weisswurst with Sweet Mustard and Pretzel. There will also be Oven Baked Chicken, Meat Loaf, Grilled Sausages and, of course, the signature German Schweinhaxe (Pork Knuckle).

The outdoor festivities will also be evenings of song, game and dance. Austria’s Anton Show Band to set the mood with classic polka music, while you engage in various games such as the “Fastest Beer Stein Drinking Contest” or “Longest Pretzel Chain Contest” and more.

Capitol Kempinski Oktoberfest will take place from 10 to 13 October 2019 from 6pm to 11pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and 12pm to 4pm on Sunday. Tickets are priced at S$70++ per person (S$59++ for early bird pricing if booked by 15 September), inclusive of free-flowing food and a welcome beer. Drinks are priced at S$10++ per glass for wine and beer thereafter. Tickets can be purchased here.
