Western Australia introduces its inaugural Pinot Picnic, a four-day celebration of premium produce and Pinot from the Southern Forests region of Manjimup and Pemberton.

[Pinot Picnic has been rescheduled from 11-14 February 2021 to 22-25 April 2021]

If there’s one grape varietal that evokes romanticism, it’s Pinot Noir. The world renown noble grape goes into some of the most iconic wines in the world – Bourgogne and Champagne, we’re looking at you – and thus, much celebrated.

Well it seems Western Australia agrees. While it is best known for its Swan Valley and Margaret River wine regions – famous for Verdelho and Chenin Blanc, and Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon – Western Australia looks to shine the spotlight on the wines that are coming out of its Southern Forests winemaking region. And particularly, Pinot Noir.

From 11 to 14 February 2021 22 to 25 April 2021, Western Australia will be hosting its first-ever Pinot Picnic, where foodies and wine lovers in Australia will have the opportunity to explore this beautifully rural corner of Western Australia over a variety of pop-up Pinot-themed events like sparkling soirées, tasting masterclasses, and vineyard experiences.

And in Singapore too, food lovers and pinot-philes can participate in the celebrations by ordering picnic hampers from Lush Platters – Pinot included – online for doorstep delivery. For Singapore, two hampers are available; wines featured include those from Lost Lake Wines and Below & Above Wines from Pemberton, as well as Manjimup-based Woodgate Wines. Each hamper also comes with specially engraved Plumm glassware, which makes Pinot Picnic a great option for couples looking to celebrate a day out in a fun yet different way.

“Pinot Picnic offers representation of the region’s finest array of produce, from the humble spud to the perfect glass of pinot, and shines a light on the Southern Forests & Valleys wine and produce to international and domestic markets,” said Larry Jorgensen, CEO of the Wine Industry Association WA.

“We understand that many in Singapore and abroad have been yearning to travel again, so we specially curated a range of gourmet hampers to bring the taste of the Southern Forests to their doorstep,” he added.

The inaugural 2021 Pinot Picnic is a partnership between Wine Australia, Wines of WA, Australia South West, Southern Forests Wine Region, Southern Forests Food Council, Department of Primary Industries & Regional Development, Southern Forests & Valleys Tourism, South West Development Commission, RAC Western Australia, and Lush Platters.
