Award-winning wine-focused dining guide Star Wine List launches in Singapore with an initial list of 10 wine restaurants and wine bars.

Star Wine List, the wine lover’s guide to noteworthy wine bars and wine restaurants, has launched in Singapore.

First started in Stockholm in 2017 by founder Krister Bengtsson as a guide curated by top wine professionals to point wine lovers to interesting restaurants and bars, Star Wine List has since grown to include more than 25 countries covering international cities such as London, Paris, and New York. It is now officially launched in Singapore, listing ten venues curated by one of Singapore’s most lauded sommeliers, Alvin Gho. The launch sees Singapore join China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Thailand as the only Asian countries currently included in the online guide.

The 10 Singapore wine bars and restaurants listed are:

Most of the 10 listings are located in the heart of Singapore’s central business district and the heritage area of Chinatown.

“We are extremely excited to get started in Singapore with Alvin Gho. Singapore is of course one of the great gastronomic destinations of Asia and we can’t wait to go back and discover these wine places ourselves,” says Krister Bengtsson, founder and publisher of Star Wine List.

Alvin Gho, Star Wine List’s ambassador to Singapore and co-owner of RVLT, shared that most people he’s spoken to about a wine list or program-focused dining guide thought it was a great idea. Gho doesn’t think the new entrant competes with existing dining guides in Singapore, such as the Michelin Guide.

“Star Wine List allows consumers to make the choice of restaurant based on the wine concept and selection. Personally I see that Star Wine List complements dining or restaurant guides that are primarily chef- or food-focused. If you are a consumer who also sees wine as a priority of your dining experience, then Star Wine List helps to better narrow down your decision on where to go,” Gho, an award-winning sommelier, added.

The guide will be adding on more Singapore restaurants and bars to the list gradually.
