Ginett is that restaurant every hotel should have

Ginett Restaurant & Wine Bar at Hotel G Singapore continues to offer comforting French bistro classics that suit pretty much any occasion.

Ginett Restaurant & Wine Bar at Hotel G Singapore surprises on many levels as a hotel restaurant. Most hotel restaurants offer a gastronomic array of dishes across different cuisines to suit their international clientele; Ginett is one of the few that moves away from that ubiquitous international buffet setup and sticks to just one cuisine – French.

But not contemporary fine-dining French, a culinary approach that’s been in vogue because it attracts the food critics (and Michelin inspectors). Instead we’re talking about traditional French favourites, the kind of homely dishes you’ll find offered by bistros in every Parisian street corner.

And they do it so well. Despite having a number of executive chef changes over the years, Ginett continues to churn out some of the most reliable takes on our favourite bistro eats since 2017. What we particularly love about Ginett? Dishes do change up from brunch to lunch to dinner, so there’s always something slightly different on the menu to order.

Putting up at Hotel G Singapore but prefer something fancier than the provided hotel breakfast? Drop in Ginett for brunch. Its Parisian Breakfast is a French twist on the full English breakfast, including a choice of Eggs Florentine. Otherwise there’s the traditional Croque Monsieur, complete with drippy bechamel for the perfect morning pick-me-up especially if you’re nursing a hangover.

Or how about lunch with the family? Their Free Range Organic Chicken from the rotisserie has been a firm favourite since launch. This is juicy, perfectly roasted chook that’s good for sharing. Lunching solo and prefer a lighter meal? Their Nicoise Salad – complete with tuna chunks, boiled egg, olives and mixed greens will hit the spot.

If you’re there for brunch on the weekends with friends, good for grazing is the 1 Meter Board loaded down with various cheeses and cold cuts. Pro tip: there’s a free-flow mimosa option during Ginett’s weekend brunch.

Come evening, the front of Ginett transitions into an alfresco bar of sorts, where you can pick on various cold cuts and other dishes for the peckish – we recommend the Pork Rillettes – from their bar bites menu to go with your choice of wine or cocktail. Another pro tip: round up the girl friends for evening drinks on Tuesday for its Ladies Night Out promotion, and get a complimentary glass of Rosé each.

Or book a cosy spot inside for a more romantic dinner with the other half. Especially if your date is a bona fide beef lover. Their ‘From The Grill’ section is the highlight during dinner, offering a range of steaks – pick from 4-6 Weeks Dry Aged Australian Black Angus MB3+, Tajima Wagyu Beef Marbling M5, or Rosedale Ruby Pure Australian Beef of varying cuts. Remember to add some fries on the side for a more authentic French steak frites experience.

For us though, possibly the most impressive about Ginett is its very affordable range of French wines. After all, no one can really argue against house pours from S$6++ per glass! But if you’re willing to shell out a little bit more, your options open up to a wide variety of still affordable wines from pretty much every wine-producing region in France.

Something for everyone at Ginett? You bet there is. It’s everything you want from a great hotel restaurant.
