Regent Singapore expands its Dolcetto gourmet pasticceria into a full-service multi-concept gastronomic destination serving up all manner of Italian goodies.

Love the Italian spread at Regent Singapore’s flagship restaurant Basilico but find its massive buffets a little bit too much commitment? Here’s some good news. The hotel recently expanded Dolcetto, turning the little pastry haven on its lobby level into a full-service multi-concept destination offering an entire gourmet selection of goodies that is sure to please any Italophile.

So not only is there an artisanal pasticceria selling a wide spread of cakes and other baked delights – we do love their bombolone and foccacia! – Dolcetto is also now home to an all-day mercatino (named after the little food stalls you find in Italian markets).

Regent - Dolcetto Mercatino
The expanded Mercatino section at Dolcetto offers all kinds of goodies such as Italian candy and gelato.

The mercatino is split into various sections. Here you’ll find a gourmet deli stocked with all manner of cheeses and charcuterie, a gelato counter, as well as a corner dedicated to Italian candies. And if you’d like to do a spot of shopping, there’s even a section with grocery items such as pasta, arborio rice for cooking risotto, artisanal truffled honey, and other goodies brought in from Italy.

And don’t forget its cooked food. Dolcetto also serves a range of salads, pastas and pizzas, so it’s a good alternative if you prefer its casual streetwalk bistro-like space over the formality of dining at Basilico. In fact, the newly-expanded 100-seater has an alfresco seating area that’s even pet-friendly!

You may even find some of these dishes familiar – some of these favourites have been presented as part of the buffets at Basilico over the years in one way or another. Pizzas lovers will enjoy the classic Margherita or the more decadent Truffle Burrata. Pastas include the simple yet filling Orecchiette with Pachino Tomato and Fresh basil, as well as the most delectable Gnochetti Sardi with Parmigiano Reggiano Cream and Pork Sausage Ragout, which we absolutely loved. Those looking for a lighter repast can consider the refereshing salad that is Pear & Pecorino.

Regent - Dolcetto - Mercatino - Evening Experience
Pasta, charcuterie, and Aperol Spritz… everything you want for the perfect aperitivo hour.

If you prefer to pick, a couple of sharing platters – the Italian Cold Cuts Platter and Cheese Platter – are available.

For those looking for libations, there’s a simple but effective drinks list with a range of spritzers and Italian gin and tonics you can lounge over with. There’s the Aperol Spritz for those who love that bittersweet cocktail, or a Gin Spritz for something more complex. We do wish the wine list was a little more robust – there’s only one white, one red, and a Prosecco. Pro tip for drinkers: drop in between 3pm and 7pm any day for aperitivo hour, where you get 1-for-1 on select Italian wines, cocktails, and gin and tonics.

Regent Singapore may be a little out of the way on the quieter end of Orchard Road, but newly revamped Dolcetto is a great reason to visit. Just remember to grab some gelato on your way out!
