Singapore’s first craft beer-focused Urban Beer Festival will take place 3-4 March 2023 and will see 13 local craft breweries participate.

Local craft beer fans, take note. There’s a new beer festival in town, and this one strongly features locally-made craft beers. Local taproom Good Luck and Japanese restaurant Gyu San have partnered and gathered more than 20 independent craft breweries – 13 of which are Singapore-based small-batch craft beer makers – for Singapore’s first-ever Urban Beer Festival.

Taking place on 3 and 4 March 2023 at the open courtyard space at Guoco Tower, the mini beer fest will be the first time Singapore’s local craft beer scene have gathered together to showcase their brews since the pandemic. Participating local craft breweries include pioneers Brewerkz and Archipelago, familiar names such as Brewlander, Lion Brewery, Rye & Pint, Specific Gravity, and The 1925 Brewing Co, as well as smaller craft labels such as Off Day Beer Co, Sunbird Brewing Company, That Singapore Beer Project, and District Brewers.

Craft beers from overseas will also feature. These include Australia’s Cheeky Monkey Brewing Co, Rocky Ridge, and Bodriggy, as well as UK’s Thornbridge, Magic Rock, and Vocation Brewery.

Looking for more than beer? Lion City Meadery will be on hand to offer their meads, while Ollie will present their locally-made hard seltzers.

Altogether the Urban Beer Festival will showcase a curated selection of over 100 varieties of lagers, pale ales, session IPAs, stouts and sours, many of them award-winning.

Urban Beer Festival - brew day

The festival will also debut a special collaboration beer, the Mash-Up Mixed Tape. This beer – a fruity and smooth rice cream ale powered by Kveik viking beer yeast of Nordic origins, and generously hopped with Sabro, Talus, and Zappa – saw brewers and representatives from the 13 local craft breweries come together for its creation.

“Beer festivals are a great way to bring brewers together, but a collab brew takes the cake! We harnessed the resources and thinking power of several breweries and quickly put together a tasty ‘rojak’ of ideas. Asked to brew a festival’s show starter, we all wanted something easy drinking yet impressionable, but fuss-free,” said Mitch Gribov, head brewer of Brewerkz.

As for food, Gyu San will serve up their famous wagyu fat-fried katsu sandos at the festival, alongside food booths by modern Japanese restaurant Wagatomo, Frenchie Wine Bar and L’Arte Pizza.
